The difference between fine drawn (cold drawn) and fine rolled (cold rolled) pipes

The difference between fine drawn (cold drawn) and fine rolled (cold rolled) pipes

1. Fine drawing
Cold drawing is to use a cold drawing machine to draw metal pipes without heating. The advantage is that it does not need to be done at high temperatures. The disadvantage is that the residual stress is large and it cannot be drawn too long. Cold drawing can improve toughness and tensile strength and obtain better mechanical properties.

Cold drawn seamless steel pipe process:
Round tube blank→heating→perforation→heading→annealing→pickling→multi-pass cold drawing→semi-finished tube→heat treatment→straightening→hydraulic test (flaw detection)→marking→warehousing.

The difference between cold drawing and cold drawing:
Cold drawing and cold drawing are two different methods of metal cold processing, and they are not the same concept. Cold drawing refers to the method of applying pulling force to both ends of the metal material to cause the material to stretch and deform; cold drawing refers to the method of applying pulling force to one end of the material to pull the material out through a die hole. The hole diameter of the die should be smaller than the diameter of the material. Cold drawing processing causes the material to have extrusion deformation in addition to tensile deformation. Cold drawing processing is generally performed on a special cold drawing machine. The properties of cold drawn materials are better than those of cold drawn materials.
Main uses: for automobiles, motorcycles, refrigeration equipment, hydraulic parts, pneumatic cylinders, and other customers who have high requirements for steel pipe accuracy, smoothness, cleanliness, and mechanical properties.

2. Finish rolling
Finish-rolled pipe, also called cold-rolled precision steel pipe, is a production process of seamless steel pipe.
   Features of precision rolled pipes:
1. The tolerance and dimensional accuracy of cold-rolled precision steel pipes are high, and the product accuracy is controlled within ±0.05mm.
The inner and outer walls have good smoothness and no oxide layer on the surface.
2. Cold-rolled precision steel pipes have excellent comprehensive properties, can withstand high pressure, are cold-bent, expanded, and flattened without cracking or wrinkling, and can be used for various complex deformations and mechanical processing.
3. The promotion and application of precision seamless pipes can save steel, improve processing efficiency, reduce processing procedures and equipment investment, save costs and greatly save machining hours, increase production volume and material utilization, and at the same time help improve product quality and reduce costs.
   Use of precision rolled pipe:
Cold-rolled precision steel pipes are widely used in automobiles, motorcycles, electric vehicles, pneumatic cylinders, petrochemicals, electric power, ships, aerospace, bearings, pneumatic components, medium and low-pressure boilers and other fields.
